publication aims to explore the intersections of Victorian literature
and oceanic studies, offering new perspectives on the role of water and
the seas in shaping narratives during the Victorian era.
About the Victorian Era (1837-1901) A period marked by profound
transformation, the Victorian era saw the rise of industrial
revolutions, maritime explorations, and groundbreaking scientific
discoveries. With the British Empire's dominance over global trade
routes, oceans became central themes in literature, reflecting economic
power, colonial encounters, and existential reflections.
