Organizer: Department of Sociology, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR.
The Department of Sociology at Shiv Nadar University invites papers from advanced graduate scholars of sociology and anthropology for the Graduate Student Workshop 2025. Advanced graduate scholars are those who have completed ethnographic fieldwork encompassing physical, digital, virtual, and archival sites and are well into their writing process. The workshop envisages a discussion on post-fieldwork return to the writing of the thesis. We hope to explore how the research question and the object of inquiry shift and shape from the days of joining the doctoral research to the stage of writing. We invite you to illustrate your talk by discussing the shifts and constancies of your research subject. Additionally, you could focus on how a specific view, observation, or application of a concept has gradually emerged within your work of writing. We would prefer that you present your account linked to the context of your research. In short, we aim for the workshop to show how ongoing sociological and anthropological research approaches the analysis and description of the contemporary as it moves from 'field' to 'text.'
Workshop dates: 24-25 April 2025 (Thursday and Friday)
The presentations will be 30 mins, with 15 mins discussion/Q&A for participants. Please send your abstracts and inquiries to: ssf@snu.edu.in
