The Kerala Police Association in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, University of Kerala, Kariavattom Campus organizing a National Seminar on "Police in a Welfare State" as part of preparing the vision document. Police as an organization and policemen as individuals have been experiencing the dilemma of preserving liberty and human rights of the individual on one hand and enforcing laws which aim at preservation of society from the operations of the anti-social elements on the other. This seminar will explore the responsibility between police and citizens in maintaining safety and solving community issues together. Work-life balance of those individuals in Police department is also discussed in the seminar.

As it has become a critical issue in many professions, policing is no exception. The need for work-life balance in policing is essential not only for the well-being of the officers but also for the effectiveness of the police force and the safety of the communities they serve. The need and relevance of the Organizational reforms are also focused. The digital age has transformed the way law enforcement operates, presenting both opportunities and challenges. With rapid technological advancements, police forces worldwide are leveraging digital tools for crime prevention, investigation, and public safety. This shows the evolution of leadership structures within the police departments, including flattening hierarchies and improving leadership development programs to make the system better for the future. The seminar will develop deeper exploration on digital tools, policing, ethical and legal frameworks required to govern the law enforcement. The outcome will create a robust framework to combat future threats.
