The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for 'award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor', 'appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.' and 'admission to Ph.D. only' in Indian universities and colleges.

Subjects: Adult Education, Anthropology, Arab Culture and Islamic Studies, Arabic, Archaeology, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Buddhist, Jaina, Gandhian and Peace Studies, Chinese, Commerce, Comparative Literature, Comparative Study of Religions, Computer Science and Applications, Criminology, Education, English, Environmental Sciences, Forensic Science, Geography etc.

• Total no. of subjects: 85.
• Eligibility: 55% marks in Master's Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions. 50% marks in case of OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third gender category candidates.
• Age Limit: JRF- Not more than 30 years as on 01.06.2025. Assistant Professor/ Admission to Ph.D.- There is no upper age limit.

Mode of Examination: The Examination shall be conducted in OMR Based mode only. The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions.

Application Fee: General/ Unreserved- Rs.1150; General-EWS/ OBC-NCL- Rs.600; SC/ ST/ PwD, Third gender- Rs.325.

• Last date for submission of Examination fee: 08-05-2025.
• Correction in the Particulars in Online Application: 18 to 10-05-2025.
• Dates of Examination: 21-06-2025 to  30.06.2025.
